A group of talented local students have received the chance to participate in an innovative project to design and build a 3D scanner at Halifax West High School. The project will employ the use of “Raspberry Pi” cameras and software to allow high resolution images to be captured and sent to an existing 3D printer.
The students working on the project include members from the school’s Programming Club, alongside those from several classes. They view it as an opportunity to give back to their school community, by creating a system for public use.
The school has acquired funding for supplies from the NSTU Program Development Assistance Fund and Brilliant Labs. Mr. Watt believes this is an unparalleled experiential learning opportunity which will provide students with the technical and cooperative skills needed in future endeavours.
